About me
My name is Guðrún, an Icelandic self taught artist born and raised in Kópavogur Iceland. Over the years, I have pursued numerous art courses both as a child and an adult — in Namibia, in the United States where I lived as a teenager, and here in Iceland — experiences that have shaped my visual language and broadened my artistic perspective.
Alongside my creative work, I have a deep passion for the outdoors, especially trail running and exploring Iceland’s mountains and natural landscapes. This connection to nature is a grounding force in my life and a central source of inspiration in my art.
Returning to painting allowed me to slow down, reconnect with myself, and express emotions and experiences that words often cannot. My work is influenced by Icelandic scenery, stillness, and the quiet moments that offer space and clarity. Through my art, I aim to create pieces that evoke calm, softness, and the gentle feeling of taking a deep breath in nature.
My Story
In 2025, after experiencing burnout, I returned to painting as a way to slow down, reconnect with myself, and express feelings that words couldn’t capture. Art became my calm, created with no expectations—just presence. I’ve learned to trust the process; my best work happens when I stop overthinking and simply create.
Inspiration & Uniqueness
Icelandic nature, mountains, landscapes, and quiet moments inspire my paintings. I create them for myself first, hoping they reflect the peace, stillness, and space that mean so much to me. My art is created from a deeply personal place — shaped by my journey. Every piece is born from presence, emotion, and intuition rather than trend or perfection.
What I hope to offer
I paint to slow down, to breathe, and to express what words can’t. Because of that, each artwork carries genuine stillness, softness, and honesty. My paintings are made to evoke calm — like a deep breath in the middle of a busy day.
They are not mass‑produced, not rushed, and never created to “fit in,” but to feel real.
